Our Ministry

Planting Churches & Training Church Planters

Sandra and I are returning to Guadalajara, Mexico, in January 2018 to launch the International Church of Guadalajara (ICGDL). Our vision is to have a greater impact upon the whole of Mexican society by reaching the "global influencers" living in the Guadalajara, Jalisco area. This “unreached peoples group” consists of English speaking internationals, Mexican professionals, Millennials and university students.

The Guadalajara Metropolitan area is Mexico’s second largest with a population of over 7 million, with less than 2% being Evangelical. It is also an important university city, hosting the University of Guadalajara with over 250 thousand enrolled students. Tens of thousands attend several other important universities.

Guadalajara is located in the heart of Mexico’s “Rosary Belt,” also known as the “Heart of Darkness,” and is considered by many to be the “10/40 Window” of the Americas. There exists a significant “wealthy elite” population, heavily influenced by the secular teachings of atheism and agnosticism, systemically taught in Mexico’s private and public schools. In the tech world, Guadalajara is known as the "Silicon Valley" of Mexico. It has developed into a vibrant international destination and is home to an estimated 50 thousand North American English speaking expats.

During 2017, we are stateside visiting churches to share our vision and recruit workers who feel called to help us launch the International Church of Guadalajara in one of the most advanced cities in the Americas. Please pray for and consider partnering with us - physically and financially - as we endeavor to fulfill God's heart to evangelize the “unreached peoples” of southern Mexico.

Get Involved

We are looking for people who have a heart to serve and experience or desire to learn to lead in the ministry areas listed below. In 2018, we are launching an International Church in Guadalajara, the second largest city in Mexico, with a substantial international English speaking community, a huge university population, as well as a large unreached young professional demographic. We are looking for creative and energetic team players to help organize and launch this exciting new style of church in southern Mexico. Along with the opportunities to minister to the "unreached" peoples demographic mentioned above, there are also opportunities to connect with and assist local churches in the areas of compassion, evangelism, and construction.

Our History

Planting Churches & Training Church Planters in Mexico & Spain

Over the past 30 years, Sandra and I have ministered to tens of thousands of marginalized peoples throughout Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean, Indonesia, and Spain. In November 2016, we completed a three-year missionary assignment in Spain, working with the national church to equip workers to plant new churches, and we also served as the Interim Lead Pastors of the International Church of Madrid.

From 1987 to 2004, we served in southern Mexico, planting and constructing 12 churches in 7 cities. During our time in Guadalajara, we pioneered the Teen Challenge ministry — a Christ-centered drug and alcohol treatment center — where hundreds received healing and restoration, and many were called into fulltime ministry. In 1997, we launched the School of Christ Ministers Training Center, equipping over 500 men and women. Our SOC graduates have launched over 300 churches throughout Mexico and Latin America, with a collective Sunday attendance numbering in the thousands.

After leaving Mexico in 2004, Sandra and I had the privilege of working throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, first, with Book of Hope, reaching the children and youth of Latin America with the Gospel, then with the incredible ministry of Convoy of Hope, a Christ-centered disaster relief and compassion ministry based out of Springfield, Missouri.

In May 2017, Sandra and I will celebrate 35 years of a Christ-centered marriage and ministry. I am a graduate of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri, with a Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies (2009). Sandra earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary and Bilingual Education from the University of Texas-Pan American (1984).
